The Human Condition
“The characteristics, key events, and situations which compose the essentials of human existence, such as birth, growth, emotionality, aspiration, conflict, and mortality".
Spirits Amongst Us / DohaArtworks
This work reflects a fascination with the ‘Human Condition’ which has been the driving force behind a lifetime studying, planning and designing the built environment; essentially, the fabric around us.
My work highlights the various threads that make up this fabric and enrich our lives on so many levels.
The digital compositions in the series ‘Spirits Amongst Us’ begin to explore another dimension to this fabric, a realm in which a divine presence is at work; our subconscious. Our subconscious plays a pivotal role in how we interpret the world, how we see ourselves and how we interact with others.
This is a world that can only be seen through our subconscious or, if extremely fortunate, captured through a camera’s lens.
These images provide a glimpse into this realm.

Do You Hear the Cranes, my Brother?
This digital composition is based on a Ukrainian requiem. The cranes are migrating and will likely die in a foreign land. The cranes symbolize soldiers going to war, and is usually sung at military funerals. Like the cranes, not all return from their arduous journey. Its a powerful token of remembrance among those in exile, or forced to flee and emigrate...my Ukrainian family.

A Whisper Of Mortality

Working on my architectural thesis, I was photographing a portion of Queen Street.
When I developed the negatives, they revealed a parallel realm co-existng with the one I am in.
